Library  Curriculum News 2011-2012:

THIRD NINE WEEKS

Kindergarten classes:

We will be reading books and doing activities that go along with their curriculum and special days on the school calendar. We will also read some of the South Carolina Picture Book Nominees for 2010-2011.

Grades 1-2: 

First grade will do a unit on tall tales in American folklore. We will do an author study of Cynthia Rylant in 2nd grade as well as practice alphabetizing. We will read books and have activities for special school days and events. We will also read some of the South Carolina Picture Book Nominees for 2010-2011.

Grades 3-4:

We will be learning how the library is organized, how the Dewey Decimal system works, and how to locate materials in this library and others. We will begin our author study on Patricia Polacco in third grade.

Fourth grade will also read children’s books to 3k-2nd grade classes later in the nine weeks.

Grades 5-6:

Fifth grade will be learning to use various electronic and print resources to learn about various countries throughout the world.

Sixth grade will be doing research on bullying using various resources and will create a PowerPoint presentation in computer class using their notes from library class.
