Parent Guild:
Information
for New Families
Registration Day: Don’t miss this day! You and your child will get to meet his/her teacher, meet other students, and (most importantly) sign up for lots of activities including:
Soccer & Cheerleading
This is for grades 1-6 (1st graders must have prior experience), see Ms. Copeland, PE Teacher at Registration for more information. This is a great opportunity for your child and your family to be involved at All Saints'. Students and parents enjoy soccer games on the front lawn of our campus, and you will meet lots of other All Saints' families. The schedule for practices and games is published shortly after school begins.
Birthday Book Club
You can purchase a book in your child’s name for the school library. During Chapel (on a Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday morning) your child will be presented with a book from the library. It will have a bookplate with your child’s name and birthday in it, and he/she will be the first to get to read it.
School Store
The Parent Guild sells All Saints' logo items like shirts, jackets, caps, sweatshirts, car magnets, and license plates. There is not an actual “store,” but there are samples and sizes of all items in the Admissions Office for you to see. To make a purchase, you just select the items and sizes you want, complete an order form, attach a check, and turn in the order at the School Office. The School Store chairperson will get the merchandise to you, usually within a couple of days.
We hope you will enjoy
GETTING INVOLVED at All Saints'!
There are many activities and special events
during the year.
Here are some highlights:
Back to School Night: This is a chance for parents to meet all of the teachers and staff, learn more about the curriculum, and see class work. NOTE: This evening is for parents only. Please make other arrangements in advance for your child(ren).
Chapel: Chapel is on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings from 8:10 – 8:40. Our Headmaster, teachers, staff members, and the All Saints' Church rector lead this short “morning prayer” service – a time for all of our students and teachers to gather before the academic day begins. Your child’s class will participate in a Chapel Program two to three times a year – sometimes performing a new song, a Spanish or French presentation, a religious, or academic lesson. Parents, other relatives, and special friends are always welcome and encouraged to attend chapel programs. Just be sure to arrive early! The church sanctuary fills up very quickly for special programs. You can usually sit or stand near the back, in the vacant side pews, or in the balcony. Students need to sit with their classes, but you can visit briefly after the program.
Spirit Day: Every Friday is Spirit Day at All Saints'. Students are encouraged to wear their All Saints' shirts or our school colors (kelly green and white). On alternating Fridays (Grades 3K- 2nd grade one week and grades 3-6 the next) students attend Spirit Day in the All Saints' Church Parish Hall. You are welcome to join us as we sing and celebrate various campus events, student achievements, or enjoy seasonal programs! We also recognize students who have met Accelerated Reader goals. You will receive a calendar with the AR recognition dates for 1st – 6th graders (1st grade AR starts after Christmas.)
Blessing of the Animals: We celebrate St. Francis Day (see school calendar) on our front lawn. Each student may bring a pet or stuffed animal to receive a special blessing. Parents are definitely encouraged to come, bring your child’s pet, and take the pet home after this lively event. Come to the front lawn with your pet, and students come with their classes during Chapel time.
Fun Day: This very popular event is usually held in October on the front lawn – just for FUN! The Parent Guild organizes this event with games, special activities, and prizes! Families and friends are invited to attend.
Turkey Trot: This event is held in the fall as part of our PE program. Students build up to running / walking / jogging laps around the front lawn during PE class each week, culminating in the Turkey Trot, a timed distance competition within each grade (1st – 6th). You will receive dates/ times in your child’s weekly folder, and you are welcome to come to this event!
Grandparents & Special Friends Day: This is a fun day in February when parents, grandparents, and special friends are invited to visit the classrooms and enjoy seeing our students and their teachers in action! Mark your calendar and call your child’s grandparents and/or special friends to visit on this day! Students really look forward to this event, so it is important to make every effort to have at least one person there for your child!
Apple Day: Students bring in fruit and other items on this day (listed on school calendar) to fill baskets for teacher/staff appreciation day.
Metric Olympics: An end of the year sports extravaganza! Hope for moderate temperatures and come watch all of our students participate in relay races and sports of all sorts. Lots of parent volunteers are needed to help set up and run these events.
Fund Raising
All Saints' Episcopal Day School, Inc. is a non-profit (501(c)3) organization. All independent schools raise funds to provide items (large and small) that are not covered in the school’s operating budget. There are several ways you can participate in fund raising at All Saints'.
The Development Office coordinates Annual Fund giving and the “Building Strong Foundations” Capital Campaign.
Annual Fund gifts have helped our school in many ways: resources for the summer camp program, campus fencing, equipment for teachers, continuing education programs, and more!
Capital Campaign funds have helped us begin a $3.5 million building plan which includes the Classroom Building (Phase I, completed in 2003); and will include the addition of a Multi-Purpose Building and Covered Pavilion (Phase II), and a new Media Center and Administrative Office Building (Phase III).
The Parent Guild is a separate auxiliary organization for All Saints' School. Through various, successful fund raising efforts, we have purchased all of the playground equipment, bought new computers, a public address system, keypad system, campus signs, and many other resources for teachers and the All Saints'campus.
Parent Guild fund raising efforts include:
1) Sally Foster Wrapping Paper and Gift Sale-- begins in August;
2) Box Tops for Education (you can clip these coupons all year long!);
3) Joe Corbi Pizza and Cookie Dough – seasonal;
4) School Store – items available throughout the year;
and 5) Boosterthon Fun Run – watch for information in the spring!
